Listen carefully at the beginning of each song. Jan will give you ideas about how you can join in.
These, familiar, songs are particularly helpful when inspiring children/young people to make choices or join in with increasing confidence. Try to encourage your child/young person to choose which song to join in with. You could find little pictures or toys (that you link with each song) so that they can choose between these by looking, pointing, sweeping one away etc. If you sing the first line of the song as you show the picture or object, this might help them to decide. A lot of these songs are sung quite slowly. This is so that you can play with your child/young person, giving time for decisions and interaction. For example, you could sing along but not sing the last word of the line. They might be inspired to fill in the last word. If your child/young person prefers not to join in vocally, they could play along whilst you sing.
The Thomas’s Fund Summer Live Stream happened on 8th July 2021. It was, kindly, hosted by Chris Robinson, from Northampton College. In Part One of the stream, Thomas’s Fund Music Therapists; the Chair and friends sing songs and play music for you to play, sing and do actions along with. This part is particularly suitable for younger viewers. We hope that you enjoy joining in.
We employ, HCPC registered, Music Therapists (to provide our service) but when it comes to the everyday running of the Fund we are, almost entirely, volunteers. Any additional costs that we face, in order to run the service efficiently; abide by current legislation; or mount a fundraising event, are kept to an absolute minimum (however, as you can imagine, our fuel costs keep rising year on year!).
We pride ourselves on the fact that people can donate to Thomas’s Fund (or provide us with a grant) knowing that the children/young people (and families) who use our service, will benefit the most.
We value ALL support. Even if you can not make a monetary donation, you could still help us by donating your time; skills and expertise; fundraising experience or just by spreading the word about us, via your platforms.
