Charity & Music Therapy Information

On this page you will find documents, leaflets, PowerPoints, videos etc., explaining Music Therapy in general and our charity’s work in more detail.

This page is still being constructed so please be aware that more items will be added shortly.

Our Leaflet

We are, currently, updating our leaflet but here is our old one. When the new version is ready, we will provide a link, here, for you to download it.

The British Association of Music Therapy (BAMT)

The British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT) is the professional body for Music Therapy in the UK. Thomas’s Fund always aims to follow their guidance.

You can find out more on the BAMT website. You will, also, find interesting resources about Music Therapy (for both practitioners and non- practitioners).

The Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is a regulator of health and care professions in the UK. Our Music Therapists are all HCPC registered.

You can find out more on the ‘public’ page of the HCPC website.

The World Federation of Music Therapy (WFMT)

The World Federation of Music Therapy (WFMT) is a non-profit organisation (based in America) that aims to promote and raise awareness of Music Therapy across the World. Each year, the Federation mounts a World Music Therapy Week. In 2023, this week ran from 10th to 15th April.

There is some interesting information about Music Therapy around the world on their website.

Supporting our work

We employ, HCPC registered, Music Therapists (to provide our service) but when it comes to the everyday running of the Fund we are, almost entirely, volunteers. Any additional costs that we face, in order to run the service efficiently; abide by current legislation; or mount a fundraising event, are kept to an absolute minimum (however, as you can imagine, our fuel costs keep rising year on year!).

We pride ourselves on the fact that people can donate to Thomas’s Fund (or provide us with a grant) knowing that the children/young people (and families) who use our service, will benefit the most.

We value ALL support. Even if you can not make a monetary donation, you could still help us by donating your time; skills and expertise; fundraising experience or just by spreading the word about us, via your platforms.
